The aim of this course is to provide participants with skills and knowledge related to surf awareness, aquatic rescue operations, radio operations, resuscitation, emergency care, spinal management, communication, teamwork and Surf Life Saving patrol operations.
This award includes and builds upon the SLSA Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC), and it is the prerequisite award for many other SLS pathway awards.
It is recommended for SLS members who wish to:
Perform in the role of a qualified lifesaver after the age of 15 years
Participate in SLS surf sports competitions which require them to be proficient in the Bronze Medallion as a prerequisite condition
Progress through the SLS Aquatic Rescue or Power Craft award pathway
PREREQUISITES
To commence training for the Bronze Medallion you must:
Be at least 15 years of age on the final assessment date
TRAINING INFORMATION
Training will commence sharp at the given times. Trainees are to arrive at least 15 minutes before training commences
Where there is no attendance at a given training session within 15 minutes of the commencement time the session will be cancelled.
Acceptance onto a course will not be granted once the course is into its second week of training - cut off dates to be provided.
Where a student does not attend training for two consecutive sessions without notification to the Trainer - assessment may be delayed.
For courses/training commencing or ongoing after the 30 October club fees must have been paid.
Training dates and locations are subject to amendment dependent on weather.
Trainees or their guardians must have access to the Mandurah SLSC Stack Team App and SLS Hub prior to commencement of training.
Online training - where applicable must be completed at least one week prior to assessment (unless discussed with the Head Trainer)
Trainees will not be permitted to be assessed if they have not completed mandatory online training.
Our amazing Trainers are Volunteers - at times things out of their control may mean that sessions will need to be amended or cancelled last minute. As much notification as possible will be provided via the Stack Team App Chat.
