We are off and racing in 2024 at Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club!
Over the Holidays members were devoted to their rostered Patrol duties and filled a number of voluntary patrols at events and over popular Seasonal Days! We are so thankful to you all for your generous service in keeping our beaches safe for the community.
As we are all warmed up for an exciting 2024, we welcome members from Peel clubs; Port Bouvard Surf LIfe Saving Club, Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club and our very own Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club to participate at the SunSmart Nipper Championships in February!
We are very proud to be hosting this event with the support of sponsors Healthway, SunSmart and Surf Life Saving WA, and call on all members to show their club and region pride in coming together to build an event to be remembered. More info under Surf Sports!

AGE GROUP MANAGERS
COURSE COMPLETION AND WATER SAFETY RE-QUALIFICATIONS ARE DUE
Friendly Reminder that all Age Group Managers need to have completed the following courses in the elearning portal on their SLSA Members page:
SLA Age Managers
SLA Child Safe Awareness
This is compulsory and you will not be able to be an Age Group Manager without completing these.
We are also calling for AGM's to be sure they have re-qualled their Water Safety Certs, please See Sarah our education coordinator if you need to be assessed

REQUAL SRC / BRONZE AND NRC TRAINING COURSE
NOW is your chance to get in the water and share the Nippers experience with your community!
NRC training and Requal for Bronze and SRC:

Training is filling up fast and is subject to numbers so register or miss out.
This is the beginning of your Water Safety journey and the first step to donning an uber-cool orange shirt at Woodside Nippers or roving our Mandurah beaches on Patrol.
PLEASE NOTE WATER SAFETY INFO:
- No current Water Safety Cert (ORANGE HI-VIS VEST) is an opportunity to allow you to out of the water during Woodside Nippers, Surf Sports and club events.
- NRC (ORANGE RASHIE) is an award to allow you to participate in Water Safety up to waist deep water with a rescue tube during Woodside Nippers.
- SRC (RED AND YELLOW RASHIE OR ORANGE RASHIE) is an award to allow you to participate in Volunteer or Rostered Lifesaving Operations and act in the role of deeper Water Safety with a rescue tube or board during Woodside Nippers and Surf Sports.
WHO LOVES FREE STUFF AND SAVING LIVES?!
This Feb we are hosting a "Provide First Aid" course for Active Members at Mandurah Surf Life Saving Club.
Here's everything you need to know:

We are on the lookout for enthusiastic members (parents, guardians & youth) who would like to mentor our Surf Sports members during Training Sessions.
We provide fun and supportive sessions in the following areas;
- Paddle boards
- Flags
- Sprints
- Distance Running
- Swimming (Ocean and Pool)
- Irons
No experience necessary!

We just need willing and engaged coaches to share the load over the training seasons.
How can you help?

2. Work in rotation with Sunni, Chris...& hopefully other coaches
To create a sustainable future for our Club Surf Sports initiative, we encourage our members to help us grow a team of coaches to support our Members, Life Savers, Nippers, Youth & Masters who love Surf Sports training and want to continue to improve skills and fitness.

- This is a Regional Championship for U8-U13

- All other non-competing Nippers; U6 & U7 are welcome to enjoy a usual Nippers Sunday at Town Beach at the same time and please come on down to cheer on the older age groups during Saturday's events!

LIFE SAVING

A very BIG thank you to those patrol members who stepped up for voluntary and abalone patrols during the Holidays and to those who have completed their Requals.
Patrol Rosters are up and we are ready to get the red and yellow flags up!

As well as the start of our rostered patrols we have a number of opportunities to offer assistance during volunteer patrols in Abalone Patrol and at the SunSmart Nipper Championships. Please get in touch if you are able to share the load of these invaluable patrols.

STARFISH NIPPERS

Starfish Nippers is a lifesaving skills program designed for children and young adults with a disability 6 years and older.
This season's registrations have closed but we are very grateful to have had such an amazing response to our program! The more Water Safety Certified volunteers we have the more opportunities we can provide our budding Nippers!

The Club is hosting this years SunSmart Nippers Championships on Sat 10th Feb and Sun 11th Feb and we are calling on all members to support your clubs and lend a hand.
Have you helped at Nippers or a club event this season? Every little bit counts and we are relying on the volunteer spirit of our members to make this event a great success.
Help a bit here or there, help all day, help both days! Every little bit counts. We just need as many hands as we can get!

Is our San Remo club beach a dog beach?
While we love seeing everyone out and about, the beach in front of the club is not a designated dog-friendly zone.
According to the Dog Act 1976, fines of $200 or more could be enforced.
Considering the safety and well-being of our diverse Nippers, Club and Beach-going community we kindly ask you to leave your four-legged pals at home.
